I am an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at University of Evansville (UE). Prior to my current position, I worked as an Assistant Professor of Creative Technologies at Oakland City University (OCU). I have received both my M.S. in Computer Information Technology and Ph.D. in Technology degrees from Purdue University in 2017 and 2021 respectively. My research interests broadly include STEM Education, Design Thinking, Argumentation, Curriculum Design, Simulation-based Learning, and Learning Analytics.
On a more personal note, I was born and raised in a small town called Sungai Besar in Malaysia. I am the oldest of three children - I have two younger brothers. My dad was a mechanic and my mom was a child caregiver (they have both retired now). We enjoy travelling together as a family.
I moved to the US in 2012 for college and have been here since. I am happily married to my husband, Hector. Hector is an Assistant Professor and Program Director of Electrical Engineering at University of Evansville. Hector is originally from Honduras so we enjoy learning each other’s cultures - that includes me slowing learning Spanish. Fun fact, I speak four languages (i.e., English, Malay, Mandarin, Cantonese) fluently and Spanish will one day be my fifth (hopefully!).
I am a follower of Jesus Christ. I came to know Jesus and eventually made the decision to call Him my Lord and Savior when I was in my first year of Ph.D. program. Before knowing Jesus, I was very lost and confused about my purpose in life, and was living my life based on my feelings, or my own standards of what count as right or wrong. Knowing Jesus and submitting my life to Him has changed my life completely. I can’t imagine living life without Him. Though challenging, I make it my prayer and goal to grow to be more like Him everyday and please Him in everything I do.
In my free time, I enjoy trying out new recipes, working on DIY projects (mostly home decor and sewing projects), gardening (mostly indoor houseplants), taking walks, learning about anything design related, and travelling.
I would love to connect with people of same interests, either professionally, leisurely, or spiritually. Contact me if you would like to connect!
